(Richard Andrews is the main character in The Sacred Female. I thought an interview with him would be fun.)

Host: Mr. Andrews, thank you for taking the time to be with us today.

Rich: Make it “Rich.” I’m more comfortable that way.

Host: OK, Rich. May I ask why you are more comfortable?

Rich: I’m an engineer: an ocean engineer. Although there is a great deal of precision in this field, the ocean’s parameters are continually changing, requiring some guess work to be successful. I wanted some formal control in my life, so I went by “Richard.” That changed after I met Jeanne.

Host: What caused it to change?

Rich: The sales-girl in Jeanne’s boutique pointed out that with Jeanne, I was a very rich man. I say sales-girl, but she was more like a sister to Jeanne. It was sort of like being hit on the head with a hammer. It got my attention. I’ve been Rich, ever since.

Host: That is very nice. If I may say so, even sweet.

Rich: You may.

Host: Thank you. This brings me to another point. In the book, you and Jeanne are very sexual. She has sexual responses most women have never heard of. Would you say the two of you are over sexed?

Rich: You’re asking the wrong guy. If I were, I probably wouldn’t admit it. But when I met Jeanne, when we literally bumped heads, I wasn’t even thinking about sex with her. Even over the months we had dinners together. She wasn’t my type. I liked those hot little cheerleaders. She is taller, yet stately and graceful and very beautiful, but I am prejudiced that way.
Even when we went on our first “real date,” I didn’t have expectations of making love with her. It just happened.

Host: Exactly what happened?

Rich: Look. Getting back to your last question, I enjoy sex. I’ve had a great deal of sex, but this was different. I guess over the course of the months knowing her, I fell in love with her. A couple of times, leaving the restaurant or food court, I would have a partial erection and when I noticed it, I would ask, where did that come from?

Host: You guessed you fell in love. Didn’t you know?

Rich: Are you kidding? Of course I didn’t know. I had no idea what love was when we met. I was even afraid of the word. Nobody tells us about love. Lust? Yeah! I’ve been in lust more times than you can count. But love? No. This just fell into my lap. I could say that Jeanne is my reward for living a good, clean life, but we both know better. I’m just a guy who is very blessed.

Host: In the book, you seem quite knowledgeable about sex. Did…

Rich: There you go, kidding again. I’ve been a part of some very uncommon sexual responses, but look at all the research I had to do in the book to find out what was going on.

Host: Yes, but before the research, you seemed to have some knowledge.

Rich: Just experience. No real knowledge.

Host: Well, Rich, what happened to you? And do you attribute it to you sexual encounters with Jeanne?

Rich: It is hard to explain. It’s like I was opened up: more intuitive. Before Jeanne, I had to put everything into an equation or on a list to see how it balanced against the parameters. After Jeanne, I just knew. They were just little things, but I knew. And as for Jeanne, yes I think our making love definitely contributed to this. But I don’t think it would have happened if we didn’t really love each other.

Host: That’s amazing! Are either of you involved with Tantric Sex or anything like that?

Rich: No. Just love. It seems to work just fine. Part of that was getting used to each other and becoming aware some of our man/woman beliefs are bogus. Some of these are easier to get rid of than others. But the more we get rid of, the easier it is to love and the better life is.

Host. Rich, we are running out of time and I’d like to thank you for being with us today. I’d really like to question you more about these bogus beliefs. Can you come back next week?

Rich: I’d love to.

Host: Thanks again and we’ll see you next week.
